On June 17, 2018 Astana hosted one of the most prestigious international triathlon competitions BI GROUP IRONMAN 70.3 Astana. BI Group won the right to hold it.
Following the results of the Ironman 70.3 race, Astana BI Group received permission to conduct the full Ironman distance in Nur-Sultan in 2021. For the first time on the territory of the CIS countries, a full-distance competition will be held. The athletes will compete for the slots of the Ironman Kona World Championship (Hawaii).
Aydin Rakhimbayev for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan raised the national flag at the IRONMAN Kona World Championship in Hawaii.
